Hi readers of Hackercool,
Welcome to the second issue of the First edition of the magazine. Apologies for the delay in the delivery. The year end  has made our schedule really hectic. The highlight of the latest issue is definitely Metasploitable Tutorials. This explains how enumeration can be performed on the remote machine if SMB service is enabled on it. We have started a new section aptly named Online Security that will give our users some tips to stay secure online. In Metasploit This Month we have included a series of different hacks which you will sure enjoy. 
Our  Installit section contains a detailed explanation on how to set up a Wordpress pen test lab which we will use in our future issues to learn website hacking. Welcome to the April 2024 Issue of Hackercool Magazine. Yeah, I know we are releasing our April 2024 Issue in the month of July 2024, instead of releasing at least our June 2024 Issue. This is far beyond asking for apology. So, we will cut that short and go directly to what this Issue has got for you. We start this Issue with a Red Team hacking tutorial. You should have noticed that lot of Black Hat Hacker groups are increasingly using SVG images to deliver their payloads and gain access nowadays. So, in this issue we bring to our readers an article on different ways to gain access using SVG images.
Next, you will learn in detail about typosquatting, a social engineering attack being used by Black Hat hackers in real-world. Then you will learn about two vulnerabilities disclosed recently: LG WebOS vulnerability and Linux xgutil vulnerability.
The latest version of Metasploit, Metasploit 6.4 has been released. How could we move to our next Issue without explaining to our readers about all the new features added to the latest version of the most popular pen testing tool. Similarly, the latest version of privacy focused browser, Tor 13 has also been released. We have brought our readers new features in it too.    Welcome to the third issue of year 2024. The temperature is getting hot and so does Black Hat Hacking. Lame poetry aside, let’s see what you will learn in our latest Issue. We start this Issue with a Black Hat Hacking scenario named “Hacking MSSQL servers”. MSSQL servers are one of the most widely used database software around the world. Black Hat Hackers have been compromising MSSQL servers since long time may be since 2016. However, it is not vulnerabilities they are exploiting.
            Why are hackers making MSSQL their targets? MSSQL is installed on a Windows machine and compromising it can give them access to the underlying Windows system. The second reason being that it is easy to hack them. Next, you will learn how to create an HTA file that downloads and executes your chosen payloads. Note that we are not talking about creating HTA file with msfvenom tool. If you want to be a Black Hat Hacker, you have to learn how to create some files manually. 
        Next, we bring you a complete guide on another popular password cracker named Medusa. Then, we move on to the first Exploit Writing feature of year 2024. Breaking the norm until now, in this feature we will show you how to create a simple server and client and initiate a connection between them.     This is Kalyan Chinta with the latest Issue of Hackercool Magazine. Let’s give you a quick summary of what this Issue contains. The first article of this Issue is how to exploit a vulnerability in Windows Defender SmartScreen (CVE-2023-36025) that is already popular with Black Hat Hackers around the world. This vulnerability describes how to gain initial access by bypassing Windows Defender Smart Screen. Next article brings you one of the infection chains of Ursniff banking trojan. This infection chain starts with a zip archive containing a single HTA file. When victims click on this HTA file, it downloads and executes a PowerShell script which then downloads and executes a DLL file which finally downloads the payload and executes it on the target system. Yes, I show you how to create the infection chain. Instead of using Ursniff trojan as payload, we will be using msfvenom meterpreter.
              Next, in Tool of the Month feature, we bring you a complete guide on Hydra Password cracker. Then, you will learn how a Black Hat Hacker group used Github commit messages to hide its malicious activity. Then you will learn about multiple vulnerabilities disclosed recently in Ivanti VPN appliances and their impact.

Hi all.

 Welcome to the first Issue of Hackercool Magazine for year 2024. After completing six editions, I thought it would be a good idea to reboot the content of the Magazine. Although, I have been thinking about this since few months now, I never had a clear picture. Recently, the picture became somewhat clearer and I decide the first Issue of Edition 7 would be a great place to start.
       As you read this Issue, you will see that it has two new features included and two old features brought back. The first new feature you will read is “Initial Access”. Initial Access, as its name implies features the file formats and types of vulnerabilities being used by Black Hat Hackers in real world to gain initial access to target system or target network. 
      The second new feature introduced with this edition is “Infection chain”. Also called as attack chain or execution chain, infection chain features all the files, scripts and commands that are executed after target user clicks on the file sent for gaining initial access to the execution of actual payload on the target system. I brought back an old feature “Tool of the month” with this Edition.  For start, you will see a complete guide of DNSenum in this Issue.
      Another feature I brought back is Hackstory. If you subscribed to Hackercool Magazine in its starting days, you will be familiar with this feature. No problem though, In the present Issue, enjoy reading the story in which we tell you how a Chinese APT performed cyber espionage for 8 months on organizations by exploiting a vulnerability in Barracuda ESG devices. In Bypassing AV/EDR, we explain our readers practically, how Black Hat Hackers are using Github to hide the -ir malicious activity. This is a enjoyable read+practical, as you will see.  Another year has ended and another new year has dawned upon us.  This is not only the last Issue of the year but also the last Issue in the old format. Yeah. We are planning to reboot Hackercool Magazine and you might see the changes in the first Issue of 2024 itself, if every -thing goes according to GOD’s plan. We wanted to brush you up with these vulnerabilities.

In this article, you will learn to use all the modules you learnt about till now to make an exploit that is very identical to Real World exploits. Then, we bring you for the first time our prediction in the field of  cybersecurity for year 2024. Our predictions are based on the latest hacking trends that we have observed in year 2023.  
            We will end this Issue with a Metasploit Scenario in which you will learn how to exploit WinRAR RCE vulnerability to gain initial access, elevate privileg- -es by exploiting the clfs.sys vulnerability in Windows 10 and then use Pass-the-Hash attack to gain control of a Windows Domain controller (I mean almost).
