उत्तर प्रदेश का आंवला उत्पादन में विश्व मानचित्र पर प्रमुख स्थान है, जहां पर आंवला उत्पादन का 21,150 हेक्टेयर क्षेत्र में किया जाता है, जिस का 8 फीसदी भाग पूर्वी जनपदों सुलतानपुर, फैजाबाद, प्रयागराज, प्रतापगढ़, मिर्जापुर, वाराणसी, आजमगढ़, जौनपुर में किया जाता है, परंतु कुल उत्पादन का 70 फीसदी भाग खाद्य प्रसंस्करण व आयुर्वेदिक उद्योग में उपयोग किया जाता है. आंवला फल उत्पाद का समय से विपणन व उपयोग न होने पर 30-37 फीसदी फलों की बरबादी हो जाती है.
