In this issue

Art has escaped the lofty prison of intellectual elitism. It is now accessible to all and appreciated by
them.Galleries and museums were considered intimidating and people hesitated approaching them. Museums have awakened to the need to bring art from the closet on to the common arena. They are organizing special

exhibitions and in response, schools and other institutions are making that extra effort to co-ordinate educational trips to train the students in arts. The education departments of these museums allocate dedicated guides to show them around and arouse interest in the museum objects. For the foreign tourist also they have special audio guides with sensors and translation facility. It is an unusual yet welcomed activity. Later than sooner, we have realized that museums need to do more pro active things than just exist with an amazing inheritance of artworks. The 'do not touch' tag is also on its way out.
Nowadays, museums encourage visitors to be more interactive. The National Museum has initiated a tactile gallery for the differently-abled, where they can touch and feel the specially replicated artworks. Each museum or gallery has developed a special outreach program to give impetus to art education. As a result of this scurried activity, students and art enthusiasts have started thronging the once sparsely-filled institutions. If the people are hesitant to come see our rich culture, we will take our rich culture to them, showcased in an interesting manner so as to attract the youth and the millennial. Art is finally getting to occupy the place that it deserves. From the highest echelons of society, the art has slowly and
steadily trickled down to a true enthusiast and the connoisseur.
