The International SPA Association (ISPA) has released its annual findings of five key spa industry financial indicators for the market in USA. Compiled by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the initial report is known as the ‘Big Five’, comprising total revenue, spa visits, spa
locations, revenue per visit and number of employees for the
United States spa industry.

There is no doubting the fact that the Indian salon industry is on a boom path. If speculations and business forecast are to be believed, the industry will stand at approximately Rs.322 billion by 2020. This growth will encompass hairdressing, skincare, make-up and wellness.

I am thrilled to announce to you the successful completion of the Salon Management Congress (SMC) at Professional Beauty Expo in New Delhi. It was the second edition for SMC but a first for the capital! We had an amazing line-up of speakers, from Anand Mohan Jha of NSDC and Nayana Karunaratne from Sri Lanka to Asha Hariharan, Dr Bharti Taneja, CK Kumarvel, Pammy and Veer Kaul and Jawed Habib amongst many others. The topics that were discussed at SMC encompassed various aspects of the salon business such as scaling up, skill development, hygiene and sanitation, specialisation, sustainability and much more.

Just when I thought summer is boiling down to an anti-climactic end, things are thrown back in top spin. We, at Beauté Espace headquarters, are gearing up for the second edition of the Salon Management Congress (SMC)... this time in New Delhi.
