The end of the financial year in March, also saw the return of a fine full-time Defence Minister, Mr Parrikar back to politics in Goa, his home state, as its Chief Minister. And, with the MoD once again with Mr Arun Jaitley as a stop gap additional portfolio, speculation is rife as to who could fill Mr Parrikar's large boots. In a rarity of sorts for South Block, Mr Parrikar often chose to directly engage with our military brass, much to annoyance of the bureaucracy.
In the past our military brasshats went on with their business with whomsoever they were saddled with as their Minister. This time, however, it was different. As the MoD remains a challenge for our ill-informed politicians, there'll be few takers for this job, unlike in global powers, where politicians vie for the prized defence portfolio.
As we approach completion of the third year of this magazine, we are privileged to have India’s leading business leader Dr Niranjan Hiranandani as our Chief Advisor, who is a fond patron to the cause of Faujis. A pioneering real-estate personality having created India’s first residential-commercial mix township of Powai in Mumbai, his vast experience shall enlighten us in the path ahead. He has even carved out a Defence Enclave for Faujis at his upcoming mega-township in Panvel (Mumbai). We welcome him on-board in our journey to fight for the men who fight for the country. JAI HIND!
