Desh 2 December 2021 issue commemorates the birth anniversaries of Charles Baudelaire, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Gustave Flaubert and Marcel Proust. All four of these stalwarts revolutionized the language, scope, understanding and experience of modern literature. They transformed literature to make it a vehicle for representating the desire of the age. In spite of being rooted to their times, they continue to inspire and remembered as luminaries who shaped the craft. The issue comprises essays by Sudhir Dutta, Arun Som, Sayam Bandyopadhyay and Trinanjan Chakraborty. There is a review essay by Arun Ghosh on the watercolor paintings and sculptures by Paresh Maity. The issue also carries an essay by Subhash Bhattacharya on the human mind as a lexicon and other regular sections like the serialized nonfiction ‘Naxalbarinama’ by Ashim Chattopadhyay, the serialized novel ‘Lochandas Shabdakar’ by Bimal Lama, ‘Jiban Jerakam’ by Sumit Mitra, Mantabya, Granthalok, Shilpo Sanskriti, Galpo, Chithipatra, Seshkatha etc.
