Desh 17 July 2021 issue commemorates the 100th anniversary of three seminal works in the realm of literature and philosophy, three enduring landmarks that continue to inspire intellectual reflection. Sukumar Ray’s nonsensical classic ‘HaJaBaRaLa’, Luigi Pirandello’s metatheatrical masterpiece ‘Six Characters in Search of an Author’ and Ludwig Wittgenstein’s groundbreaking treatise ‘Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus’ have remained remarkable and relevant generation after changing generation. They have stood the test of time, and continue to speak to the fears and hopes of humanity even after a hundred years. The issue comprises essays by Suman Gun, Sayam Bandyopadhyay and Rahul Dasgupta. There is an essay on alcohol consumption and the drinking culture in 19th century Bengal by Raktim Sur. The issue carries other regular sections like the serialized nonfiction ‘Naxalbarinama’ by Ashim Chattopadhyay, the serialized novel ‘Lochandas Shabdakar’ by Bimal Lama, ‘Jiban Jerakam’ by Sumit Mitra, Mantabya, Granthalok, Shilpo Sanskriti, Galpo, Chithipatra, Seshkatha etc.

সুকুমার রায়ের রচনায় ‘আমাদের এই পৃথিবীর ভিতরেই আরও অনেক পৃথিবী’র খোঁজ পেয়েছিলেন জীবনানন্দ দাশ। চিত্ররূপময় সেই ভুবন ‘আমাদের চেনাশােনা পৃথিবী কিংবা তার প্রতিচ্ছবির মতাে বাস্তব না হয়েও তেমনি পরিচিত ও তেমনি সত্য। অতিরিক্ত অথচ অবধারিত সেই সত্যের সদাহাস্যময় বন্দনা সুকুমার রায়ের যে-কোনও লেখার মতােই আমরা পাব হযবরল-তেও, যে-রচনাটি এই বছর শতবর্ষ স্পর্শ করল। এই একশাে বছরে বাংলা সাহিত্য উচ্চাশা ভরা নানা অভিযানে অংশ নিয়েছে,
