Desh 17 May, 2021 issue is dedicated to the iconic poet and thinker Shankha Ghosh. A towering literary figure and a doyen of modern Bengali poetry, Shankha Ghosh was an intrinsic part of Bengal’s cultural and moral psyche. In his poetry he struck a beautiful balance between the personal and the social, with himself emerging as a guardian and intellectual conscience of Bengali society at large. The issue comprises essays by Joy Goswami, Subodh Sarkar, Srijato and Binayak Bandyopadhyay. There is an essay on animal hybridization by Shubhabrata Ghosh. Serialization of ‘Lochandas Shabdkakar’, a new novel by Bimal Lama begins in this issue.
