Desh 2 May, 2021 issue is a tribute to Satyajit Ray on his birth centenary. One of the greatest and enduring masters of cinema who redefined the language of Indian filmmaking, Ray was a man of many talents. This issue comprises a previously unpublished interview of the auteur given to Andrew Robinson; and a collection of memoirs and essays exploring his life and evolution as a director, writer, illustrator, calligrapher, designer and composer— a composite artist par excellence. It features essays by Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Sanjib Chattopadhyay, Manoj Mitra, Gautam Bhadra, Sandip Ray, Madhabi Mukhopadhyay, Sharmila Tagore, Sumit Mitra, Chhandak Sengupta, Sanjay Mukhopadhyay, Anindya Sengupta, Manas Ghosh, Anupam Roy, Sushovan Adhikari, Shubhabrata Bandyopadhyay and Sayam Bandyopadhyay The issue also carries other regular sections like the serialized nonfiction ‘Naxalbarinama’ by Ashim Chattopadhyay, the serialized novel ‘Prabhu Amar Priyo’ by Nirmalya Mukhopadhyay, Mantabya, Seshkatha etc.

অ ন্ধকার প্রেক্ষালয়ে পা দিতে না দিতেই কোনও এক অচেনা দর্শক-বন্ধুর হাত আমায় টেনে নিয়ে পাশের চেয়ারে বসাল। সামনের দিকে তাকিয়েও বুঝতে পারছি, পরদায় তখন কী দেখানাে হচ্ছে, বুঝতে পারছি আর কতটুকুই বা আয়ু আছে ছবিটার! চলমান ছবিতে তখন দুঃখ-সুখের এমনই দোলদোলানি, মুহূর্তের জন্যেও নাড়াঘাঁটা করার সাহস হল না। কে আমার সঙ্গী হলেন, সেই অন্তিম লগ্নে কেই-বা সে হিসাব নেয়!
