Desh 17 March 2022 issue celebrates 100 years of Anandabazar Patrika. In 1922, Anandabazar Patrika first appeared as a four-page evening daily that sold at two paise and had a circulation of about 1000 copies a day. A century later, it reaches out to millions of readers everyday. It is not merely a newspaper, but a chronicler of history and the cultural evolution of the country. An integral part of the intellectual ethos, it has always remained true to its purpose to inform, educate, engage, entertain and thus raise the quality of human life as a whole. The issue comprises essays by Sanjib Chattopadhyay, Debashish Bhattacharya, Anirban Chattopadhyay and Ishani Dutta Ray. There is an essay by Mrinmoy Pramanik on Bengali diaspora literature in Burma (now Myanmar). The issue also carries regular sections like the serialized novels ‘Kanchanfuler Kobi’ by Masud Ahmad and ‘Udhatakani Chittani’ by Sutapa Basu, Mantabya, Granthalok, Shilpo Sanskriti, Galpo, Chithipatra, Seshkatha etc.
