“Taste your way around the world.” That’s some good advice I’ve always tried to follow. Whenever I’m on the move – which is a lot! – and whether I’m travelling for business or pleasure, or a bit of both, I always try to eat the local food wherever I may be. That can be quite a challenge sometimes, of course, but one must make the effort or lose out on the true essence of travel. My good friend Yvonne Yuen is the subject of this month’s fascinating Cover Story. She tells us about her journey from Shanghai to Hong Kong and then Indonesia, where she learned to be a top-quality home cook. “I started cooking because I missed home so much,” she explains. “I was trying to search for the memories through the tip of my tongue.”
