MILLENIALS ARE REWRITING the rules of fashion, and luxury brands are scrambling to win their attention. Some companies are getting it right, but others are stuck in a time warp, Failing to make the most of the opportunities social media sites – Instagram, in particular – give them to reach Generations Y and Z. Brands such as Gucci, Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton are using social media to appeal to millennial customers to great effect, according to UBS’s latest European Luxury report, published earlier this year. The industry’s larger companies, it says, “are using clever e-commerce and digital strategies to attract younger customer".
