It’s always a good sign that things are going well when you have to modify articles that have already been written and tweak deadlines that have already been agreed.

Big Rom spoke to Everton magazine in early September 2016, and spoke from the heart by the way, but, of course, we had to change the copy after his starring role in Sky Sports' Monday night offering at Sunderland.

Incidentally, our hat-trick hero can be a somewhat shy boy off the field and was reluctant to be filmed with the match-ball when I interviewed him for evertonTV after the game. As you may have seen, he eventually did so but I had to beat him at ‘paper-scissors-stone’ in the dressing room to get my own way!

We’ve also had to invite Enner Valencia to supply a few fresh quotes after watching his new colleagues dismantle Sunderland at the Stadium of Light – and it’s fair to surmise that he’s relishing the prospect of playing alongside Romelu Lukaku.

Our new Around The Table feature was well received in our last issue and I can assure you it’s as much fun to compile as it is to read. This month, three guys from Joe Royle’s 1995 FA Cup dressing room laughed, mocked and bantered their way through a wonderful conversation – look out for the video version on the Everton TV Show.

And what a bonus the Leighton Baines column has turned out to be. Not only is he writing his own stuff, he’s also providing the pictures… and he’s clearly developing (sorry!) a skill for it.
