Magazine Description

In this issue

I’d like to say welcome to all of our readers and we hope that you are all staying safe during what we all recognise to be an uncertain time for everyone. Certainly, we plan to be here with you for the duration and offer some form of escape. In this issue we focus on home improvement – and for those isolated at home this could afford the perfect time to assess all of those jobs big or small that need done around the house. Whether a room that needs a lick of paint, paintings that need hung or a garden that needs tended, there’s probably lots to keep you occupied as you self-isolate, decorate and generally give the spaces of your home a revamp. Time at home also allows you to assess the layout and function of your house. Does it work for you? Is there a wall you’ve considered knocking down to make your living more open-plan? Do you have the budget to update a kitchen or bathroom? Now’s the time to look online and see what local companies have to offer. Drop them an email, send measurements, get quotes – this is the time to start planning those projects you may have been putting off due to time constraints. We feature three inspirational readers’ homes that have all undergone renovations and refurbishment. From a 1960s bungalow in Clonskeagh that has been totally transformed, to a 1940s cottage in Galway where two modern extensions have been added to create a unique stylish home. Then there is our Hillsborough home where a stone cottage lying vacant is now a stylish bed and breakfast. We also have recipes for you to try from celebrity chef James Martin, as well as some summery cocktails to keep you merry, there’s some container gardening everyone can turn their hand to, and of course, travel for when life returns to normal. So stay safe and try to make the most of your time at home.
