And why does any of this matter? Because it’s an illustration of how time slips away: one moment you’re freshly engaged, tears of joy drying on your cheeks, admiring the sparkle of that glittering new ring on your finger. The next, you’re standing in your ceremony venue, taking a deep breath and preparing to walk down the aisle towards the love of your life, wondering where the last however-many months of planning and nerves and excitement have disappeared to...

I know January tends to get a lot of flak but personally, I love it. The start of a new year represents so many exciting things: it’s a tabula rasa, waiting to be filled with new adventures, memories, experiences... If you’re a bride-to-be on the countdown to her W-day, it’s even more exciting, of course – especially if 2018 is the year when you get to say ‘I do’ to the love of your life. In keeping with the fresh-beginning feel January brings with it so effortlessly, in this issue we’ve talked to three women who opted for the ultimate ‘something new’ after their weddings: a change in career! This entrepreneurial trio launched their own bridal businesses after they tied the knot - turn to pages 24-25 to see how, and why, they did it.

I have exciting news – I got engaged in August! And with a wedding booked for August 2018 in a French château, it’s all go go go. And one area where I am really feeling the pressure is, of course, the flowers. Do I go for all white, or pinks, or even a variety of colours? Do we opt for floral chandeliers or table runners? Working on this magazine for the past two years has spoilt me; I have been exposed to the most talented of florists and the most original ideas. No doubt I shall lose many hours of sleep wondering which blooms to go for!
This issue we are featuring plenty of moody hues and blooms perfect for those cosy winter weddings. Rich reds, deep purples and crisp whites run throughout the magazine, and if you turn to page 28, you’ll find our fabulous three page feature on how to make your winter wedding that extra bit special.

own floral wonderland, a festive delight, a transformed tipi and an abundance of plants. I began this letter with exciting news and now I end with sad news (for me anyway!). This is my last issue as editor, as I am swapping the world of weddings for interiors. I have loved my time here and will miss the talented florists and photographers who help bring this magazine to life. I hope everyone enjoys this issue as much as I have putting it together!

By the time 2017 is out, I will have been a bridesmaid to various loved ones five times; this year alone I will have watched three of my closest friends get married, attended three hen dos and one engagement party – talk about taking your work home with you!

I would never refer to myself as a wedding expert; when an industry evolves as fast as ours, can anyone truly be an authority? However, one thing I have learnt is the
importance of flowers on your big day. Since working on this magazine, I have truly come to appreciate the impact that gorgeous blooms can have on a wedding; they can take even
the most drab of venues and make it look spectacular. From floral chandeliers to table runners and oversized bouquets, to me, the flowers are what make a wedding. This is one reason why we take so much pride in our Flower Lookbook (from page 69), which allows established and up-and-coming florists to showcase their talents to you.

This issue is so packed with ideas I did wonder how we would fit it all in! Whether you’re planning next summer’s sunflowers or looking for this season’s autumnal tones, we’ve got you covered.
