Imagine a Ferrari so secret that not even the factory at Maranello knew about it. That’s the incredible story of Pininfarina’s Ferrari Testarossa-based F90, built for the Brunei royal family, that we’re able to tell exclusively this month. If the F90 represents one Ferrari extreme, accessible Ferraris are also represented this month, with a bumper guide to the V8s and V12s you should consider if you have a budget of £40,000 to £60,000. The Alfasud was famously Alfa Romeo’s first ever front-wheel drive car, but this month we have a story on an all-wheel drive one: the incredible twin-engined Alfasud Bimotore. Another sporty mid-1970s Italian is profiled, too, with the Fiat 131 Sport/Racing, while Fiat’s new 500X Sport gets a road test outing. It’s a giant Alfa Romeo birthday this month: the famous Quadrifoglio badge turns 100 years old. We celebrate every Cloverleaf Alfa from 1923 right up to today’s Giulia Quadrifoglio. It was 50 years ago that Ferrari put its first V8 engine in a road car - a great reason to celebrate with four generations of V8 Ferraris, from 308 GT4 to SF90. This month’s Auto Italia is full of unique surprises. You could say we’re doing a ‘double Drogo’ this month with two Drogo-themed Ferraris. 2022 marks the 75th anniversary of Ferrari and to celebrate we’ve plenty about Prancing Horses in this month’s issue. Not only do we have a full road and track test of the new 296 GTB – Ferrari’s first ever V6 road car – but we do a run-down of the 75 greatest cars ever made at Maranello.
