Magazine Description

In this issue

The new Toyota Hilux stars in this month's issue of 4x4 - complete with its hefty new 2.8-litre engine. Is it perfect? No. Is it brilliant? Yes. Our full test is the one you need to read. We've driven what will be the last version of the current Nissan X-Trail, too, and the pinnacle of the Range Rover line-up – the super-exclusive Fifty edition. Not that it's anything like as exclusive, or expensive, as Land Rover's Defender Works V8 Trophy. Starting price £195,000… A Discovery 2 is a lot more affordable, and when you see the motorhome conversion somebody's done on one you might well start having ideas of your own. The gloriously restified classic Jeep CJ7 and Toyota Landcruiser pick-up you'll also find in this issue, on the other hand, are more likely just to fill you full of longing. And our travel feature on how to have the best wildlife safari is almost guaranteed to provoke severe wanderlust. Having said that, so too is a special report on the rights of way around Salisbury Plain we've got this month. Thanks to the efforts of the Green Lane Association, these will survive the project to build a road tunnel under the site – and with lockdown about to be relaxed, it's a great incentive to get back out there and enjoy the countryside… though not without reading the new issue of 4x4 first!
