Can you believe Summer is already over and we´re already diving into another scholar year? This is crazy! In so many aspects of life, we don´t often have the time to truly sit down, to think, to realise what´s going on around us because everything moves way too fast. However the more you work around your passions and the more you can connect with your real self I would say. October for us at Cool Korea magazine is the month dedicated to those of you who are special, those who follow their dreams, who brake the barriers that society wants to establish so badly. 

The South Korean Fashion scene for me represents the future of men´s avant garde fashion. I love what they create and design and it´s meant for the smart-driven-stylish and life savvy men, just like our magazine Cool Korea. Essentially the September issue is the most important issue of the whole year. Why? Because it´s the beginning of the Fashion world calendar: the big fashion weeks for fall, the advertising campaigns in magazines, the newer and freshest looks from the designers and big brands, the model castings from top international agencies or the creation of lookbooks. 

Welcome to our August annual age issue where our editors, photographers and models first and foremost show you how empowering and fantastic it is to remain cool, sexy, smart when you get a bit older year after year. It´s not that we´re showing you something new lol but it is notable to have magazines dedicate year after year an issue about what it is to be an older man in a youth-driven society where when one passes the age of 30 they are considered older citizens lol what a crazy world we are livin´ y´all. 

This year’s Personality issue includes a number of different nationalities ranging from Argentina, France, Spain and the US among others. The stories in Cool Korea magazine always embody the style of the moment, the trends we saw on the fashion runways and the taste of the time which we always stimulate in every issue of the magazine, month after month. On one hand we have the stories that focus, in one way or another, on the question of identity and self-image as men of the 21st century: how we regard ourselves, how we feel about who we are or how we want to be seen as. 

June is always a favorite month of mine, this is such a great time to celebrate the return of the sun, people dressing down to a more casual way and nights are more enjoyable and everybody has a clearer spirit and you can feel the good mood in the streets. This month we´re celebrating our yearly Sexy Summer issue. Targeted at men in their teens all the way up to the late thirties and forties, Cool Korea specifically takes men to appreciate a different side of Fashion, not the commercial route but the high fashion one, all year long.

A model´s mission is to personify the spirit of a brand, to be the image of a designer´s vision, to embody the vibe of a magazine and to capture readers´ attention and imagination by how they look, pose and show who they are anywhere, anytime and anyhow. When I was modeling I remember the excitement and passion I had when I had to transmit something to a photographer or to embody the designers and editors´ vision for a collection. I also remember how thrilled I was when I used to go to the streets´ kiosks to pick up magazines and my favorite models were on the cover. For over 80 years now the world of fashion has given us hundreds of supermodels and magazines and designers have launched some of the most memorable faces of the whole modeling industry.

As much as you may like or love Fashion, what truly matters in this life to truly grow as a human being, being a better person, being smarter as time goes by, and to get closer to your dreams. However, have you also thought about your physicality meanwhile you´re going to your 2.0 version of yourself? Today, as I was talking to one of my friends who is in Australia, I realised that with his advice it was time for me to focus on my eating habits. 20 and 30 something people think little about being in a great shape, but actually in order to feel better inside and out you need to take care of your body, therefore to shape up! 

Tough times teach people to be tougher and to take even tougher decisions, whether they might be life-altering or not. Truth be told, I have always been a firm believer in working hard to get what you want and to also know that life always finds a way to make you smile again if you ever feel shattered or stressed out. On the world stage, in North Korea and in the USA, on a political level, things aren't doing so hot and as I have expressed in the past my feelings towards freedom of speech and democracy, it appears that this current decade will test us like never before.

Not many people can claim they know you deeply and share your most intimate secrets. Some may know some parts of you, others may just see the surface of what you think, what you say and who you truly are. Therefore, do you always have to reveal your whole persona to your friends and family? Is this a moral thing to do, a society kind-of-rule or just your basic say-it-all-now-to-feel-good-about-yourself type of situation? I´m confused lol. Throughout our whole life, the same thing that comes over and over again is: love. Supposedly it´s that one element that will save the world, that can make you cheer up, that defines who  you are. Is it really?

One of the pleasures, in my opinion, of editing, writing, creating and promoting a Fashion magazine, such as Cool Korea, is checking in from time to time with the people who fascinate us, who inspire us and who give you and I a sense of goal and determination to pursue our dreams and chase them stronger than ever before, year after year. However, I also love the fact that this magazine, is first and foremost a platform, a place to discover people, to help them, to groom them and to give them an exposure they wouldn’t have had otherwise. 

What a year OMG! I just can´t believe it´s December already! I´m deeply deeply happy and blessed to have this new life since this past summer and if you´re a loyal reader of Cool Korea magazine and you paid strict attention to my monthly letters, as the editor-in-chief of this Fashion publication, then you know what I´m talking about. Life is this amazing course of events or a train if you will, you can stop at many stations, change directions, take new passengers, leave others on the way and pursue this unknown destination. I guess that was the thrill of this year: not knowing where I would end up at but I eventually did and with the best of jobs, the best of friends and health and my dreams up there in my head. 

Every single month for the magazine I come up with my teams of editors and photographers on different trends, designers, accessories and personalities of the modeling world whose professional career, path of life and savvy moves may look appealing to you all as readers; having said that I also interview these people or feature these or those trends and having these fashion models in Cool Korea because they simply are interesting for me as well. A magazine isn´t a democracy, the editor´s in chief vision sums up what and how the magazine will look like. 

The idea of a monthly magazine has always been super appealing to me and ever since I was 12 I knew this would be the project I would bloom into and throughout. Every month my team of incredible photographers, stylists, hair and makeup as well as editors push themselves hard to create jaw dropping and imaginary storylines that will hopefully transport you to our world. A world of wonders. This issue was for me a transgressive issue: for the models whose life, looks, ways of living and thinking may be breaking the rules and get out of that standard box. 

As I write this month´s letter, and you may recall it from the last few months, I have eventually decided to give my life the change it needed. Therefore I will be embarking on a new adventure on a professional level in a while… I can´t give too much away at the moment but you´ll see. Fashion is still one of the greatest pleasures of my life, on an artistic and practical level, it truly gives me this space to express myself, how I see the world, how my team and I want to change it for the better.
