We’ve travelled far and wide (thank goodness, at last we can) in search of some great stories for your reading pleasure. We headed to the Monaro region of NSW to visit artist Lucy Culliton with her menagerie of rescue pets and visited Jim and Libby Litchfield at Hazeldean, the property that has been in Jim’s family since the early 1860s. In South Australia, we travelled to the south-east to meet Karren and John Hunt at the home they have created at Bordertown. We also ventured to Esperance on WA’s southern coast where author Fleur McDonald farms, writes and inspires a charity to addresses the very serious issue of domestic violence. We’ve also been to the NSW Southern Highlands to visit the garden that inspires the work of botanical artist Elaine Musgrave and her horticulturalist husband, Les, and to Canowindra to see the quirky home Jackie Yeo has built behind her landmark emporium, Finns Store. We’ve fashion for the cooler months and a feature on the latest gadgets and accessories for your kitchen.

We start in Alice Springs where we meet retired nurse Deanna Bitar and her husband Samih at the extraordinary home they’ve owner-built on a hill overlooking the beautiful Macdonnell Ranges. Our travels then head to Victoria where we visit a gorgeous garden at Tatong and the house Janelle Marsden built overlooking the vines of Porepunkah’s Feathertop Winery, both in the north-east of the state. We then venture south to Willow Grove in the foothills of the Baw Baw Ranges for a heartwarming story about how the collaboration of two women has injected new energy into their businesses as well as fresh perspective on their personal lives. Our travel story covers the Great Ocean Road and we also visit Tasmania for a profile on restaurateur and fragrance-company founder Hayley Self. Our next issue’s travels started in the very centre of Australia where we met Jan Heaslip, matriarch of Bond Springs station near Alice Springs. Jan has called the station home for almost 60 years and has been a passionate advocate for education for bush children for all of that time. She’s weathered all the challenges of remote living from drought and fire to floods and accidents. We also travelled to western Queensland where Erika and David Marsh and their family welcomed us to their home on a cattle station, then to the South Australian coastal town of Victor Harbor where we caught up with old friends Tania and Keith Norman, whose previous home at Encounter Bay and houseboat on the Murray River were featured in the magazine. Our travel story is a road trip up the Western Australian coast and our Australian abroad is Caroline Gabriel, who runs a bed and breakfast in Delhi, India.
