We live in a time of precarious housing, whether that’s the property & rental market, “private property” perpetuating colonisation, increasing extreme weather events, or the need to find sustainable housing solutions. And all this is just from the human-perspective – imagine the challenge animals and plants are having in finding and creating homes right now... This edition showcases some of these struggles, and invites us to consider creative ways to live in safe, connected ways.

How does our activism  fit into the diverse web of change making? From disability advocacy to mutual aid, from Blockade Australia to practising gratitude and earth listening, from playfulness to critical self-re ection, this edition shines a light on the myriad of ways people in the broader FoE network are being activists. We ask the questions, how we might strengthen and support the relationships between strands of our web? And how we might step beyond our own practice and theory, and try out different, diverse, forms of being activist?

Imagine your great-grandchildren live in your hoped-for utopia. What do their communities look like? What resources do they need and use to eat/live/play? This edition invites you to dream the world your heart longs for; and bring that dream into this moment, and our campaigns now. We start by taking a hard-hitting look at our culture’s extractivist mindset, and the ways this pervades corporations’ “greenwashing” and perhaps even our activist goals.

Climate change is here and it is wreaking havoc on communities. The bush res, the pandemic, the floods - the world as we know it is changing and each disaster further exposes the structural inequalities of the system that puts profit over people and planet. This edition focuses on the growing climate disasters on this continent; we share some voices from the  ood frontlines, explore the intersecting issues causing disasters and celebrate the incredible community efforts that do some of the best work at long-term recovery and resilience.
