In this issue

In one of the recent editions, we covered an article on whether robots should be granted citizenship. Did you Know that river in New Zealand by the name Whanganui River which is revered by the ethnic Maori residents has been granted the same legal rights and status as human beings. A forest nearby the river is a legal person too. The legal principle that corporation is a legal person and a living tree is not is drummed into law schools for long but based on above one may ask - if rivers can stand in court rooms, why a tree cannot? Not just that elephants have even made it to trials arguing that they have the sense of self-awareness, are independent in expressing empathy towards others and hence qualify to be legal 'persons'. Commentators argue that archaic legal systems call for modernization while legislators and judiciary constantly aim at evaluating and reworking the fine balance between citizen rights and governmental actions. At STA, we continue to bring issues to the forefront and share articles and information that help you stay updated. This edition of Court Uncourt continues with our Guide feature in addition to covering some key articles on UAE Law, the laws in GCC and other jurisdictions. Thank you, and we hope you have an insightful read.

Court Uncourt Magazine Description:

Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and Science have always been core subjects in school curriculum. The legal fraternity especially the law and judicial system however dictate that citizens and residents should always be aware of the local laws. To this effect, the legal maxim 'ignorance of Law is no excuse' is drummed into students from their first civics class. Guided by our core principles, here we deliver you bespoke legal information that you should know. We have always been at the forefront of driving the conversation towards the issues. It is an indubitable conviction that we live in time of information overload and it is Court Uncourt's attempt to look for context and insight into subjects that pique your curiosity.

We are here to lay your curiosity to rest and share our competency and proficiency openly and seamlessly for your safety and knowledge.

We wish you a pleasant and beneficial reading!
