In this issue

The hooks of pirates have long threatened the seas, and in its turn, with the rapid and revolutionary development of technology, property and computers eventually came to be threatened by piracy. Piracy, the very etymology of the word unveils its meaning: whereas pirates attack and rob ships at sea, their modern-day doppelgangers which we call ‘hackers’ are in some regard guilty of the same behavior. Hackers use another person’s computer to gain access to information which is unauthorized to them. Piracy is similar to hacking but is a larger category insofar as it concerns any practice related to the unauthorized use or reproduction of another’s work. In June 2017, some residents in the United Arab Emirates were alarmed at the hacking of home surveillance cameras. In other words, the very devices installed to ensure our safety have been manipulated to breach our privacy. As a result, Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection of the Department of Economic Development is keen on putting an end to piracy. This is only one example of the mosaïque of threats posed by piracy.

Court Uncourt Magazine Description:

Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and Science have always been core subjects in school curriculum. The legal fraternity especially the law and judicial system however dictate that citizens and residents should always be aware of the local laws. To this effect, the legal maxim 'ignorance of Law is no excuse' is drummed into students from their first civics class. Guided by our core principles, here we deliver you bespoke legal information that you should know. We have always been at the forefront of driving the conversation towards the issues. It is an indubitable conviction that we live in time of information overload and it is Court Uncourt's attempt to look for context and insight into subjects that pique your curiosity.
