In this issue

The planet stood astounded in 1991 when renowned computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee proved that the world could be brought together with the World Wide Web. Little did he know that his invention would become one of the basic amenities in every household just a few years later. Today, the access given to us by the internet is so expansive that we can do anything from ordering a meal, to attending classes and obtaining a degree, by the simple click of a button; and its payments, of course! However, what may have slipped your mind is the Internet’s effect on the legal platform. Protracted legal processes and the need for parties to be physically present in court has proved to be a bane to all litigants. Therefore, the Dubai Courts recently dipped its feet in the internet pool by permitting parties to register cases online without the mandate of being present at court. What may be concluded by the beginning of this swim is that, the positive reach of the internet has made its way to the legal profession by eliminating the hassle that parties endure in a lawsuit. Is it too far a stretch to hope that in a few years we might not have to get out of our houses for anything other than to pay the internet bill?
In this issue of Court Uncourt, our attorneys will discuss a motley of topics ranging from the legalities involved in this recent innovation by the Dubai Courts to the ambit of the new real estate law that is set to elevate the Indian real estate industry to international standards. We welcome you at the gates of this electronic age and thank you once again.
