The Beauty issue of WHF isn't all about the pure aesthetic nature of good looks which may determine an arbitrary definition of "hotness", rather we find beauty is what really makes you want to spend time with someone.

Now, we're not denying that our March ‘beauty’ issue doesn’t delve into the purely aesthetic; far from. Flip to page 44 and you will find advice on fighting the signs of ageing via your training regimen, while a workout to build a booty worthy of the Kardashian surname is on page 50. We also asked our Nutrition Round Table what foods to eat for serious glow and lush locks (p.92), and our Dodgy Diet feature shows you how to avoid common fat loss saboteurs (p.78). And while we would never advocate finishing a workout sweat free, we do show you how to re-beautify post training with key make-up and skincare products for your gym bag (p.116), and we uncover the new technology that lets you see acne-causing bacteria beneath the skin’s surface with the naked eye (p.122). And why shouldn’t you want – and we deliver – this information? If looking good helps you to feel more confident and happy, then we say do so guilt free. But also keep in mind that your worth is by no means defined by a clear complexion, chiselled curves or a selfie that racks up 100 Instagram likes – in fact, thinking so can have disastrous consequences for your physical and mental health (see p.30 & 34).

The Fine Line

You can shed the kilos via skipping lunch, but if you reduce calories without excercise it could come back to bite you, and if you train without adjusting your food intake you will quickly reach a plateau. Welcome to the diet v excercise debate – all the more important come social season, when time is scarce and (high-energy) food is abundant. Help to mitigate the damage of extra race-day canapes with these training tweaks.
