"Oh, don't you know? There's a special bill being debated in the forest parliament today. I am going to sit in the audience gallery and listen to the debate on that bill," Johny giraffe replied.
"Which bill, Johny?" Cheeku asked. "Cheeku, you must be aware that the crocodiles in the forest have declared their rights over the ponds, and they won't allow terrestrial creatures to use the water.
The forest government is introducing a bill against this, stating that everyone has the right to the water in ponds, rivers, and springs," Johny explained.
"Well, that sounds like a significant bill. I'd love to listen to the debate as well," Cheeku said.
"Then come along, Cheeku! Let's hurry!"
Johny and Cheeku quickly made their way towards the forest parliament.
As soon as they settled in the audience gallery, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Honourable Mantu deer, began the debate on the bill.
Participating in the debate, Cuckoo crab, a supporter of the crocodiles and an opponent of the government, spoke up first.
"Honourable Speaker, terrestrial animals living on land have rights to everything on the land, so why should aquatic animals not have exclusive rights to ponds, springs, and rivers?"
Jumpy monkey then leaped up from his seat and cried, "Injustice! Injustice! Injustice! Sir, it would be a grave injustice to grant crocodiles exclusive rights over the ponds. We monkeys may live in trees, but we also need to quench our thirst by visiting water sources. Water is a gift of nature, and crocodiles cannot claim exclusive rights over ponds, depriving others of their right to water."
Many MPs applauded Jumpy's speech by thumping their tables.
Speaker Mantu then called upon Koko tortoise to speak.
