What’s undoubtedly the piece de résistance of the M3 family is the all-new GPU architecture on the M3 chip. Traditional GPUs, which allocate memory statically, often suffer from wasted resources. The Dynamic Caching system, however, utilises memory in real-time, drastically increasing average GPU utilisation without any added developer intervention. The M3 chips herald hardware-accelerated ray tracing for the Mac for the first time. By simulating the interaction of light within a digital environment, this technology allows for the creation of breathtakingly realistic images. Such enhancements are not merely aesthetic but open new vistas for gaming and professional software. The next-generation CPU in the M3 family chips features performance cores that are up to 30 percent faster than their M1 counterparts.
