British National Track Championships - Manchester, 23-25 February

Scratch race world champion Will Tidball will be among a raft of top British talent competing at the National Track Championships this weekend. The three-day event returns this

Friday to Manchester, the home of British Cycling, for the first time since 2020, after the velodrome underwent refurbishment works.

Ahead of the Championships, Tidball told Cycling Weekly of the difficulty of being marked as a star rider.

“It’s like having a shadow,” the 23-year-old said. “That’s the hardest thing about Nationals, to be honest. It’s quite easy to let a move go and be on the back foot, and then suddenly have a load of people sitting on your wheel not wanting to give you a turn. But it’s a good challenge, and it’s good practice for when you’re racing against top riders in an omnium.”
