Local favourite and three-time RFC India winner Chethan Chengappa came out triumphant in the first edition of Coorg 4x4 Challenge, powered by VM Sports Foundation in association with JK Tyre at Kunda, Coorg, recently.
The two-day event had the Ladies class, SUV class, Petrol class, Diesel class and Coorg Kings class on Day 1 while the thrilling Modified class was held on Day 2.
Vamcy Merla kept his passion for the sport alive with a convincing win in the SUV class. Apart from supporting the sport, he also took part and won the SUV class. Sudin Rai won the Petrol class, Poonacha won the Diesel class and Kushmith won the Ladies class.
SUV class: Vamcy Merla of VM Sports Foundation fame clocked the fastest time of 2min 25sec despite a 20-sec penalty and pipped his teammate and celebrated rally star Ashwin Naik by 300th of a second. Sudhindra BG finished third with a further difference of 9 seconds. Jai Prakash Raj came in fourth another 5sec behind. Lokesh Gowda had to settle for fifth position taking another 32sec to complete the course.
