Q&A: Pinup-Actor Jennifer Marshall

1. Where are you from originally and where do you reside now?

What was life like for you growing up? Originally, I grew up in Colorado and graduated high school in a tiny mountain town with one stoplight. It is definitely different from Los Angeles! Growing up, things were hard. We weren’t impoverished enough to receive government assistance, but poor enough where we just couldn’t make ends meet. I am very, very thankful for the charitable acts of others because as a child, at times we relied on charity to feed and clothe us. I am very thankful to have experienced hardship because I believe it has made me a more thoughtful, appreciative, and empathetic person. <3

2. What was your first Acting job?

My first on-camera acting job was the lead in a thesis film at a nearby film school. My character, a young and impressionable young woman, was dabbling in the dark arts and fell under the influence of demons. It was an interesting experience and a demanding role, especially given that it was my first official film.

3. What has been your favorite role so far as an actor?

This one is tough! I love playing Susan, Max’s mom on Stranger Things because it’s an amazing show with an incredible cast. Literally the experience of a lifetime. She’s very different from me, though. I’d say my favorite role thus far would either be LTCOL Bailey on Hawaii Five-O or Agent Lane on Texas Zombie Wars: Titan Base. Those two women are very different but they are both tough and laudable in their own right.

4. Have you always wanted to be an actor?
