FILMMAKERS reckon they have solved the 170-year-old mystery of The Devil's Footprints.
The phenomenon caused a sensation in 1855 close to the Exe Estuary in Devon.
Locals were bamboozled by a trail of hoof-like marks which appeared in the snow overnight covering up to 100 miles.
A newspaper said locals believed "they are the marks of Satan himself".
But now, animal trackers say the marks were made by a "big cat". Presenter Carl Marshall said: "Personally, rather than the Devil having visited Devon, I think it more likely that we could be looking at one of the first recorded incidents of an escaped big cat in the area."
The findings are on Weird Britain at 10pm tonight on Blaze (Freeview 64).
