The Bees’ winless run against the Heed stretched to seven games as, for the second time in a week, they slipped to defeat up north after spurning a number of good chances.
Gateshead looked like a side with eight players out in a disjointed first-half display that Barnet should have capitalised on more than the one goal scored by 19-goal hit-man Nicke Kabamba on the half hour.
Kabamba’s push on his marker inside the box went unnoticed and he duly planted a powerful header in to the far top corner – a good finish that shouldn’t have stood.
The Bees also hit the post in each half, but lost their way in the second and were undone by Luke Hannant’s super strike and an 83rd minute home debut winner from new boy Adom.
