Whether with its numerous ready-to-wear collections, its globally desired leather bags and accessories, or those painstakingly handcrafted travel trunks, Louis Vuitton has never been one to underplay its strengths. So when it comes to luxury timepieces, a product category that the maison has spent inordinate amounts of thought and effort (not to mention money) nurturing and growing (especially in the past decade), it’s not so much substance over flash you’ll come to expect from the House, but rather substance and flash. And lots of it, as a matter of fact.
Case in point: one of its signature creations is a watch that tells the time not with conventional hands, but 12 cubes that spin, dance, flip, and as of this year illuminate, either in passing or on demand. Known as the Spin Time Air, this unique and playful feature stands out far in a sea of traditional grand complications, establishing Louis Vuitton as one of the most creative haut de gamme watchmakers of our time. And we’re not the only ones who think so. Founder of the Singapore Watch Club Tom Chng, who’s a key opinion leader in the haute horlogerie scene, simply couldn’t agree more.
