Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has, once again, taken the OTT world by storm. His latest Netflix series, Scoop, is based on journalist Jigna Vora's book, Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison which describes her time in jail after being arrested in connection with the murder of renowned journalist J Dey. From choosing his protagonist to bringing to life yet another real story, Mehta delves into details about his process.
GRAZIA: How how did you decide on your protagonist for this show?
HANSAL MEHTA: I met Karishma [Tanna, who plays Jagruti Pathak] when she was 18. She was the kind of person who commanded your attention when she walked into a room. She had messaged me after Scam that she wants to work with me, and I said sure, some day. When I saw her audition for Scoop, I saw that her personality matched that of the character's that stayed with me. And that was it.
G: Harman Baweja on screen was such a pleasant surprise. How did you think of him for this role?
