Time is of the essence when it comes to skincare, whether it’s starting an anti-ageing routine early, or being patient with a new product as you wait to see its beneficial effects — because good skin doesn’t happen overnight.

What does happen at night, though, is an intensive period of regeneration, says Nicolas Chesnier, Regional Managing Director for Asia Pacific. “In the day, the cells are very focused on protection against external aggressions — like UV rays and urban pollution — and they don’t have time to actually undergo the regeneration process,” he says. “At night, the cells are at peace, so it's the prime time for regeneration.”
