The Gyeongbokgung palace in Seoul is a 14th-century Joseon dynasty palace. It is the largest and most magnificent palace of all the five palaces in Seoul, and is also one of the most visited today, as tourists come clad in their rented hanbok to play out their Korean drama dreams. The palace itself was destroyed during the war, which lasted from 1910 to 1945, but it was rebuilt in the 1990s, which explains why it still looks so pristine and well maintained.
In May, during fashion’s cruise season, the Gyeongbokgung palace hosted a fashion show — the first ever to be staged within its space. It took place in its ceremonial courtyard, where thousands of lights lit up the palace grounds and models walked down the traditional corridors accompanied by strobing lights.
