REBUS

NEW SATURDAY, 9.25PM, BBC1 DRAMA (BOX SET, BBC IPLAYER)

Gang warfare on the streets of Edinburgh has far-reaching consequences in crime drama Rebus, inspired by Sir Ian Rankin’s bestselling novels.

The six-part series, which arrives on BBC1 this week following its debut on BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer on Friday 17 May, sees Outlander’s Richard Rankin portray uncompromising DS John Rebus, alongside Henpocalypse! star Lucie Shorthouse as his determined sidekick, DC Siobhan Clarke.

While tough-talking Rebus is initially unimpressed at being paired with by-thebook Siobhan, who hails from England and is on a fast-track promotion scheme, they forge a strong working relationship as they investigate an attack on the associate of a local gangster. But Rebus is conflicted when his troubled brother, Michael (The Ipcress File’s Brian Ferguson), becomes dangerously involved in a life of crime, while Siobhan faces quandaries of her own.

Here, Lucie, 33, shares some clues about what to expect…
