NEW ENTERTAINMENT Gladiators Saturday, 5.50pm, BBC1
One of the most iconic shows of the 1990s, Gladiators, makes a hotly anticipated return to TV with eager contenders competing against a new generation of super-fit, Lycra-clad Gladiators in a series of physically demanding games and challenges.
Originally hosted by Ulrika Jonsson and John Fashanu, the Saturday-night entertainment show first aired on ITV in 1992 and ended after eight series in 2000. Following Sky's revival in 2008 and 2009, the show's now being rebooted on BBC1 with father-and-son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh hosting.
