NEW CRIME DRAMA
Blue Lights

Monday, 9pm, BBC1 (box set, BBC iPlayer)

The corridors of Blackthorn Police Station bustle with activity as the cast and crew of hit BBC1 crime drama Blue Lights get ready to work.

TV&Satellite Week has been invited to watch filming in Belfast and as we tour the set, a black plaque dedicated to the memory of Constable Gerry Cliff catches the eye. The shocking death of the popular officer, played by Game of Thrones star Richard Dormer, was a defining moment in last year’s first season and the heartbreaking storyline is still fresh in everyone’s memory.

‘It’s the first thing anyone says when they talk to me about the show,’ says Sian Brooke, who plays Constable Grace Ellis. ‘Even my dad called me up and asked why they had to kill Gerry! He was a character that clicked with so many people. The response to that storyline was overwhelming, which is a testament to the show’s writing.’
