I MAKE BETTER MUSIC HEART BROKEN

Robyn's 'Dancing On My Own' is blaring through the speakers as Matt Evans dances around the studio to the special playlist he put together, especially for WHO's exclusive photoshoot. As the track changes over to Dua Lipa's 'Dance the Night, the actor and musician breaks out into a megawatt grin.

"She's my celebrity crush," the 26-year-old star confesses. "And now we have something in common.

The connection that binds them is a pretty big deal, too. Evans has recently been toiling away working on his new EP, which is due out in 2024.

One of the singles is a collaboration with pop legend Sir Elton John, 76, just like Lipa did in 2021.

The melody of John's iconic 1973 hit 'Crocodile Rock' is woven into the music of his yet-to-be-named upcoming song.

It's something Evans has been working on for months, sending the track off to John's team for the go-ahead. The project only got off the ground after the music superstar gave it the green light.

"The first song that I ever learned on the piano and would sing to Mum while she was going through chemo for breast cancer was 'Your Song' by Elton John," he says. "So it's really special that one of the first artists' music that I use is from Elton!"

Evans says there will be a shift in the sound of his new tracks compared to what we've heard from him since he came to prominence on Team Delta in the 2020 season of The Voice.

"This is the most honest I've ever been in my music," Evans reveals. "When I used to write, I was trying to be someone else – who I thought I needed to be – rather than myself, which I think sometimes came across as disingenuous. But now I’m being very real with who I am and the things I go through, and the lyrics are extremely heartfelt.”
