SHEFALI SHAH RECENTLY WON AN INTERNATIONAL EMMY NOMINATION IN THE BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS CATEGORY FOR DELHI CRIME. SHE CELEBRATES THE DEED WITH TANISHA BHATTACHARYA
GOING PLACES

Shefali Shah is one of the sweetest people to talk to. She loves to inquire about you, would like to hear your opinion about what she's wearing, discuss the shows and films you're watching and in 10 minutes would have you spilling all your secrets. She's charm offensive incarnate. She's currently on cloud nine as she has been nominated to the international Emmys for her portrayal of super cop Vartika Singh from Delhi Crime. She has given her heart and soul to the project and beams from ear-to-ear as you congratulate her on the achievement. We talked about the series for a while, before settling in for the interview. She makes sure my recorder is on as we begin...

Would you have believed it ten years ago if someone told you that you were going to be nominated for an Emmy?

No, I would have said, “I hope I’m nominated.” But I wouldn’t have guessed it. However, you are aware that Delhi Crime is an Indian show that has won. It has become much more inclusive. And the International Emmy isn’t just for you; it recognises talent from all over the world in a variety of languages. I’d like to think so.

While the series has previously won an Emmy, this time is extra special because you have been nominated.

The first time we were nominated for Delhi Crime, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t even get a nomination because I believe this is my best work. So I didn’t have any expectations this time. I hadn’t even considered it.

What has the family’s reaction been?
