The Citrus Growers' Association of Southern Africa (CGA) represents the interests of citrus growers, aiming to enhance their global competitiveness and ensure the long-term sustainability of the industry.
The South African citrus industry is a vibrant and dynamic sector, contributing significantly to the country's economy through job creation and export revenue. At the heart of this industry's success is the Citrus Academy, a non-profit company that was established to support the CGA's transformation and sustainability objectives. The academy plays a pivotal role in developing human capital, fostering innovation and ensuring the industry's long-term viability.
DRIVING INDUSTRY TRANSFORMATION AND SUSTAINABILITY
The Citrus Academy's primary objectives align with the CGA's strategic goals of driving industry transformation and assisting growers' longterm sustainability. It focuses on empowering historically disadvantaged individuals and promoting gender diversity within the sector. To date, 80% of the academy's beneficiaries have been non-white, and 54% are female, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and equitable growth.

The academy engages with government entities and stakeholders, particularly with regards to human resources. By collaborating with these entities, it ensures that its initiatives are aligned with national development goals and industry needs.
