Brave Alexandra Gets Treated Like The Star

Alexandra Johnston was first diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer in children and young people, when she was just 11-years-old.

She fought the disease and underwent gruelling chemotherapy; however, she was re-diagnosed again around St Patrick’s Day in 2016 and, despite battling for the second time, the disease returned and Alexandra was diagnosed again just a month ago.

Despite her illness, Alexandra, now 15, is a vibrant young woman who regularly helps out at the Derry charity, Paul’s Campaign – Sarcoma Cancer Awareness and was even part of a delegation that travelled to Stormont to raise awareness and address the issue of the lack of trained health professionals treating those suffering from it.

Her bravery, charity work and love of the biker show, ‘Sons of Anarchy’ earned her recognition from a number of local biking groups who take part in the Roaring Meg Festival in the city.

Alexandra became an internet sensation when the bikes roared up to her home, presented her with gifts and merchandise and had her ride with them as an honorary member.

Alexandra’s best friend, Megan McKinney, wanted to let her friend know how special she is to her and with the help of her mother, Linda, they have laid on an Oscars style event at the Gasyard on Friday night to honour her.
