Some homeowners know exactly what kind of style they’re going for when they embark on a renovation—and some throw things together until they like the end result. Deniece and Daryl fall into the latter category, having happily played around with their home design until it clicked. “We pieced together things that both of us liked and over time a certain feel became apparent,” the couple shares. “Our designer’s 3D mock-ups made the process a lot easier because she let us play around with colours and textures to help us visualise things.”
While they loved the rectangular, space-savvy layout of their postwar flat, the home still needed a considerable refresh. “Neither of us has the expertise nor the time to manage contractors, so that’s a big reason why we went with a designer. Her experience and insights were critical. From conception to execution, we made lots of decisions based off her recommendations. She made us aware of things we would have never thought of, like the ideal height for the kitchen counters,” Deniece shares.
