The term feel-good’ is more than just millennial lingo. Have you noticed how your skin blushes when you see your crush and breaks out when you are on the verge of emotional burnout?
The skin is an extension of what goes on inside our bodies. What happens internally is seen on the outside; when your nervous, parasympathetic, digestive, and respiratory systems work in tandem, the skin automatically is rested, moist, calm, and clearer; in short, healthy. When you feel happy, you release serotonin, which makes you feel confident and acts as a bridge between the skin and the neuroendocrine system,” explains Ayush-certified face yoga teacher Vibhuti Arora, co-founder of House of Beauty and Face Yoga School.
The opposite is true as well. When we are in psychological distress, the skin can get angsty. Too much emotional stress causes toxins inside the body and leads to white patches on the skin, dryness, pain in the hair strands, and dark undereye circles. Thus, proving that the nervous system and the skin are intimately linked, setting the pace for a revolution in skincare neurocosmetics.
