Hockey & Hooters

She once served beer at her local pub, and is currently a promotions girl for Budweiser, Akacia Boven is definitely the kind of lady we want to have around when a big game is on.

Hockey & Hooters

Akacia, tell us a bit about how you got involved in modelling?

As a teenager I loved magazines and since then it was always a dream of mine to grace the pages of one. So I participated in some local pageants and was then introduced to some photographers and promotional agencies. I have been modelling ever since.

Rumour has it you are a hockey fan. Do you play – if so, what position?

I’m not a player but I am a big fan. My brother’s quite an accomplished player and a level 1 IV coach. When we get together we check out who’s in town playing against the Ducks or the Kings. He’s a big Penguin fan dating back to Mario Lemieux, and he used play amateur league sponsored by the Penguins. So you can imagine he’s a happy camper these last few weeks with the Penguins taking the cup.

You used to be a Hooters girl. That must have come with some pretty interesting interactions and experiences.

Well, being a Hooters girl certainly was an experience (my first job out of high school). A lot of boys would come in and ask for my table and I could only handle so many tables each shift, so sometimes things would get a little wild! It was kind of exciting back when Diana Degarmo, runner up on American Idol, made our Hooters her defacto headquarters. The place was packed and it was fun to introduce her to my friends and family.
