Her Life's Become​ Spot On!

SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Alba Parejo had an option – an easy option at that, but one that would not have had the impact on her life that she would have liked. She was born with an extremely rare skin condition that had the potential to break her spirit.

She journeyed upon a nightmarish road, both emotionally and psychologically for years, up to the point where a fork lay ahead of her. She took the high road and came through a happier person who has inspired thousands. Alba is a Barcelona native. Her fellow Spaniards are famed for their exquisite looks; deep, dark and slender. She, too, is a teenager in an age where a person’s looks matter far more than most would be willing She faced to admit; wrongly or much rightly so. The snag, however, abuse as a child is the fact that she was born with congenital melanocytic naevus. 

Congenital melanocytic naevus is a topical skin condition caused by a mutation in the body’s cells that occurs early in embryonic development – usually in the first trimester. It is characterised by dark, spherical patches of skin that can occur all over the body in various an indeterminate sizes. “I have naevi [birthmarks] on my hip, bottom, my thighs and more than 500 moles over my body,” she says in describing her condition.
