WE TOOK AN ICONIC MUSCLE CAR FOR AN EVENING OUT IN INDIA’S PARTY STATE. LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL
When the idea of an epic drive was being first discussed, I remember usability being my foremost concern. A flagship would be great, but would I be able to unleash its full potential on our poor roads? Obviously, it would depend on the flagship and it took a bit of head scratching before I arrived upon a perfect candidate for the task. The Japanese and the Germans had their chance, and their champions were well represented, so it was time for the Americans, one particular manufacturer that has been committed to our market for a while now. The ’Stang, would be the perfect kind of muscle to pack for this TopGear anniversary party at India’s favourite coastal state.
When I picked up the car, and drove it down to Goa from distant stockyards in one of Mumbai’s neighbouring districts, it became obvious that this one, draped in a vibrant yellow, attracts a lot of attention. The Goans will have enough eye candy to deal with in the day, what with the Nissan GT-R thundering down streets in a flash of red and the BMW M3 turning heads with its Azure shades. We would party with the Mustang at night, bathing the streets of the erstwhile Portuguese colony in a warm yellow.
