When humans harnessed fire and invented the wheel, they’d never have imagined that one day, it’d result in this raging machine.
Let’s face it. We have messed up. Big time. Despite having the ability, patience and tenacity to live in complicated social groups, we still can’t have a border less world. The same species that builds giant birds of steel that fly around our planet is also capable of using them to destroy something and prove a point. However, brilliance is brilliance. Intelligence is intelligence. The genius of mankind and opposable thumbs have managed to create order and innovation, and chaos and destruction.
And it’s this dichotomy that’s led to this: the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder LP, oh, I don’t know, 600-4 something. It is order. It is chaos. It is innovation. And it always seems to be in the mood for destruction. The Huracan Spyder is like the wheel. Like fire. Now, millennials are pretty much convinced that the iPhone,Starbucks, Tinder and the front-facing camera have changed the course of humankind. But it’s fire and the wheel that’s gotten us here. Ages have passed since the ancestors of Homo sapien harnessed fire and early humans figured out the wheel. Yet, we still have no control over them. There are raging wild fires that even the best of technology or fire-fighting techniques cannot put out. And our penchant for speed and motion does end up in disaster at times.
I was reminded of this delicate balance between control and out of control by the Spyder. At about some three-digit speed, with the engine screaming at 8,500rpm. And, the next moment, the gearbox upshifts and the engine’s at 8,500rpm again.
