All these years, we’ve looked at pick-up trucks as a milkman’s mode of transport, they’ve never been cool or desirable. Yes, we did have the Tata Xenon, but you can’t have one registered for private use any more. But the new Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is unlike any of the pick-ups we’ve seen in India till date – and you can buy one for yourself.
To start with, the V-Cross doesn’t look too utilitarian and there’s a certain element of cool in the design. The nose is dressed up in lots of chrome and big, chic head lamps add some glamor. The flared wheel arches make it look rugged, but there’s not much character to the styling at the side or at the rear that distinguishes it from other pick-ups. What will make it stand out in a crowd is the sheer size. It is longer than the Merc GLS or even the Range Rover long wheelbase, for that matter. It’s humongous.
