Bring on the crazy stories, Shraddha Kapoor

Never Have I Ever

“If I’m highly Stung Or angry about something, Or Even Very happy , some expletives will pour out . I Use The F -Word a lot, and the best thing is how versatile it is".

“ In an Ideal world , I would love to finish one film and then take on another, but right now , I am ravenous and want to take on all these exciting things coming my way ”

There were no pyjamas and no bottomless glasses of vodka-OJ. No passing around the popcorn tub and no somnambulist acts. But there was tons of giggling, a conversation that put us in an unenviable line of fire, and an earnest plea to change the word ‘dirty’ to ‘naughty’ in the course of our drinking-without-the-drinks game – Never Have I Ever – masquerading as this interview.

Shraddha Kapoor gives us a lot to fan-girl over between this year and the next, from Rock On!! 2 (for which she happily got back to the keyboard after having played it for almost a decade since she was five) to Half Girlfriend (which additionally sees her strum the guitar). She carries her intrinsic musical vibe to our shoot as well, spotting a grand piano in the bedroom of the home-turned-set-for-the-day. She walks right to it, and plays out a tune that is neither self-indulgent nor showy. Just a girl making her fingers dance on a nostalgia-inducing piece of panda-coloured wood.

The nonchalance breaks when Kapoor looks at our references for the shoot, spotting wonderfully anti-gravity hair that she’s thrilled to replicate. “An Afro was radical at one time,” she tells us of the voluminous hair that has never been devoid of a political charge, favoured as it was by the icons of the Black Power movement. “It’s meant to break through everything considered conventionally beautiful. It’s so much more than just hair. I’ve always wanted to wear one.”

GRAZIA MOST LOVED BRANDS 2024

What makes a memorable product? And what is it that keeps us going back for more? These are some of the questions we often find ourselves asking in a saturated consumer economy, where it has become increasingly difficult to tell the premium apart from the passable. The most reliable yardstick in this regard is how a product makes us feel. This is not limited to user experience, but also extends to the overall brand ethos. We're using our years of expertise and understanding of the industry to curate the coolest young brands that resonate with today's conscious consumers. Presenting the third edition of Grazia Most Loved Brands.
